The Danish Canadian National Museum Society has established an Endowment Fund, the purpose of which is to ensure that future generations can enjoy the legacy envisioned by the founding Board of Directors.
Here's how it works:
Donations made to the Endowment Fund are restricted by a motion of the Board of Directors. These funds cannot be spent on projects and/or administration. They must be invested and only the interest generated from the Endowment Fund may be used.
Our goal is to have one million dollars in the Endowment Fund by 2020. Even at a modest 3% interest, this would generate $30,000 each year towards the operation of the Museum and Gardens! As time goes by, this amount should increase accordingly.
Where does the money come from?
Each year we receive many donations in memory of members and friends of DCNMS who have passed away. Many of these members and friends have made prior arrangements that in the event of their passing, donations can be made to DCNMS.
In addition, we occasionally receive larger bequests from the estates of members and friends.
For more information about how you can arrange for your estate to contribute to the Endowment Fund, please contact the Museum.
